Why Hiring a Copywriter is an Investment for Your Business

A good copywriter is worth more to a company than the entire executive staff.
Unbelievable? Not really, when you consider that the marketing materials and strategies that copywriters develop are responsible for bringing in the cash. A great copywriter can bring millions of dollars into a company's coffers.
In today's market, having a great product or service simply isn't enough. As a business owner, you not only have to get the word out, but you have to do it so that people want what you're offering over everything else.
That's where a good copywriter comes in.
Now, you're probably thinking, "But they're just words. How important can they really be?" My answer to that is, "Ever hear of the phrase Just Do It?"
Jolie Soloman in the March 30th, 1988 edition of Newsweek writes: "After stumbling badly against archrival Reebok in the 1980s, Nike rose about as high and fast in the '90s as any company can. It took on a new religion of brand consciousness and broke advertising sound barriers with its indelible Swoosh, "Just Do It" slogan and deified sports figures. Nike managed the deftest of marketing tricks: to be both anti-establishment and mass market, to the tune of $9.2 billion dollars in sales in 1997."
Three words = $9.2 billion dollars. That's the power of copywriting.
But copywriters are about more than just writing clever slogans.
Copywriters are trained to use words to make your business or product more appealing than the competition's. They know how to write so that people feel compelled to buy, or do whatever else it is you want them to do.
Consider direct response marketing. From 1976 through 1988 American Express mailed out a sales letter to over 280 million people. This single letter was responsible for bringing in over a billion dollars in revenue.
And these two examples are not anomalies; they're the rule. Good copywriting gets people to pull out their charge cards or checkbooks and spend money. Every commercial you see, every ad, and every direct mail piece you've ever gotten were all done by copywriters. In fact, just about every purchasing decision you've ever made was done so because of good copywriting. You just didn't know it, and that's the way it's supposed to be
So yes, they're just words, but in capable hands those words can bring in cash by the truckload to your business. We're talking thousands, hundreds of thousands, millions - even billions of dollars that are out there waiting to be spent. And a good copywriter can ensure that the money is spent on your business.
Too many businesses think they can't afford to hire a copywriter, but the fact of the matter is; if they want to make money, they can't afford not to.
