greetings from the head copy chick

Hello and "welcome to 2008" from Wordfeeder.com Copywriting and Marketing!

I took a month off from this newsletter to regroup after the 24 Blogging Days of December. If you'd like to take a peek at what went on there, visit my blog at http://wordfeeder.typepad.com.

Have you noticed? Lots of folks recently gave their marketing a major overhaul. Out with the old, in with the new. While paying my bills, I observed that several of my companies updated their phone systems. Many popular websites such as Typepad.com freshened up their look. Even my favorite herbal tea maker, Celestial Seasonings, finally did away with those heartwarming painted scenes on their little boxes of tea.

I guess change is inevitable. But if it works, why mess with it? Something to think about when marketing your business.

Wordfeeder.com was among the crowd who had some work done over the holidays. I've added some pages that I hope will help you understand the different copywriting services we provide and why you need them.

You'll even find industry-specific advice like "Copywriting for the Specialty Food Industry." Go and see if we cover your market!

Check out the new look and information: http://Wordfeeder.com.

Comments? Questions? Suggestions? Drop me a line.

Sincerely,

Article Marketing Revisited

I hear from a lot of people who want to market their businesses using web articles. I'll give you the short version of how this works. You send me an old article of yours, or an outline of a new article that you intend to publish in, say, your newsletter. I turn it into, say, five NEW articles. Then we submit your articles to a pre-selected group of sites on the web. These sites may include:

  • niche-relevant blogs
  • article directories such as http://EzineArticles.com
  • industry-similar sites that attract a similar audience as yours.

For example, if you're a life coach, http://SelfGrowth.com would be a good one to explore.

For those who need the nitty gritty details, I've developed some pages on Wordfeeder.com that explain the article marketing process. Here's one that will familiarize you step-by-step.

your marketing

Let's talk about your website marketing.

It's not enough to put up a website. You've got to develop a system for bringing in both new and repeat business. The system goes like this.

  1. Write and publish informative articles - put them "out there." At the bottom of the articles, invite people to sign up for your newsletter.

  2. When you send out your newsletter, take folks by the hand and show them the sales page of whatever product you're selling. If you only focus on services, then remind them to visit the pages of your website where your service descriptions live.

There are many, tiny details that are frequently overlooked by "newbies" and do-it-yourselfers. For example, you might create a great new page of content with just the right tone and sales pitch - but then you forget to add the call to action. "Visit the contact page and get in touch today!"

Or maybe you add a new headline that you're really pleased with... but you forget that the web functions on keywords. Nobody's coming to your site because the words they type into Google don't "match" your headline.

A web copywriter can go in and fix the little things that are hurting your sales. Now is the time! Just ask Dina@Wordfeeder.com for a website critique and tune-up today.
