greetings from the head copy chick

copywriterHi Name,

Seems like the hot topic in my inbox this month is search engine optimization.

Copywriters want to know how to give it to their clients. Clients want to know why they need it for their websites. Once they find out the "why," they then seek out the "how" - meaning, cost-effective ways to get it.

I don't advertise myself as a search engine copy specialist. There are many more copywriters out there who have made a science of keyword copywriting. Me, I don't think it's as complicated as people make it out to be. But I do think that it's necessary. I include keywords and keyword links in my copywriting clients' websites whenever possible, whether they ask for them or not.

If you think you can get away with NOT search engine optimizing your website and still manage to attract clients from thin air, you couldn't be more wrong.

If you think you can't afford SEO, you're also wrong.

Finally, if you think SEO is beyond your comprehension... again... wrong!

Get the SEO essentials in this month's feature, To Search Engine Optimize, or Not to Search Engine Optimize: That is the Question.

To Search Engine Optimize, or Not to Search Engine Optimize: That is the Question

by Dina Giolitto

The other day while interviewing a potential copywriting and marketing client, I asked about keywords. Did he know what his were? Did he plan to search engine optimize his website? My client's response was, "Well, I figured we didn't need SEO because most of my clients are going to come from word-of-mouth referrals anyway."

I was a bit taken aback by this. My reaction: Why have a website if you aren't going to bother search engine optimizing it?

A lot of web design professionals like to spin dizzying tales of keyword density and keyword diagnostics and all that. It appears they go through a very highly complex and roundabout process, to arrive at the exact same place as someone who consistently applies organic search engine optimization methods would. Seems to me, all that crazy talk does is scare people away from a very necessary step in developing a website: choosing keywords, and adding them in all the right places.

Article Marketing Services from Wordfeeder.com

Do you write and submit articles on the web as a way to grow your business exposure? How's that going for you? And have you asked yourself the important questions lately:

  • Why am I slaving over the marketing myself, when I could be attending to my clients' needs?
  • Why am I wasting warm, sunny days hunched over a computer, searching for "the right words" in vain?
  • Why do I take three days to write one article, when I could hand the task over to a copywriter who can do it in three hours?

Did you know that article marketing is a form of offpage search engine optimization? Yes - writing and submitting articles on the web will help you build your page rank. More importantly, it helps your future customers find you.

The "secret" is very simple really - all you're doing is generating keyword links that "point" back to your website.
